1. REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE (STEERING ANGLE SENSOR)
(a) Replace the spiral cable (steering angle sensor) See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control
Systems/Steering Angle Sensor/Service and Repair/Removal.
HINT
If troubleshooting has been carried out according to Problem Symptoms Table, refer back to the table and proceed to the next
step See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Symptom Related

BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM: C1434: Steering Angle Sensor
Output Malfunction
C1434 - Steering Angle Sensor Output Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
Steering angle sensor signals are sent to the skid control ECU via the CAN communication system. When there is a malfunction in the CAN
communication system, it will be detected by the steering angle sensor zero point malfunction diagnostic function.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT
- When DTC U0073, U0123, U0124 and/or U0126 is output together with DTC C1434, inspect and repair the trouble areas
indicated by DTC U0073, U0123, U01245 and/or U0126 first See: U Code Charts/U0073.
- When any of the speed sensors or the yaw rate and acceleration sensor has trouble, DTCs for the steering angle sensor may be
output even when the steering angle sensor is normal. When DTCs for the speed sensors or yaw rate and acceleration sensor
are output together with DTCs for the steering angle sensor, inspect and repair the speed sensor and yaw rate and acceleration
sensor first, and then inspect and repair the steering angle sensor.
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Clear the DTCs See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Testing and Inspection/Reading and
Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
(b) Turn the engine switch off.
(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG) again and check that no CAN communication system DTC is output See: Powertrain
Management/Computers and Control Systems/Information Bus/Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic
