HINT
Vehicle speed of 3 km/h (2 mph) or more may be displayed on the Techstream immediately after the vehicle comes to a sudden
stop. This is caused by a delay in vehicle signal input via the CAN communication bus and is not a malfunction.

A -- REPLACE MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU
From 08/2009
STEERING COLUMN: POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM: B2624: Vehicles Speed
Malfunction
B2624 - Vehicles Speed Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU forms a network with the ECUs of other systems through the CAN communication bus. Each ECU informs the
other ECUs that it is connected to the network by outputting a specified signal (periodic signal) onto the communication bus on a regular basis. The
multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU receives vehicle speed signals from the combination meter via the CAN communication bus to prevent improper
operation of the auto away/return function during driving.
HINT
*: If the engine switch is turned off immediately after the vehicle comes to a sudden stop, the last vehicle speed signal may not be 0
km/h (0 mph).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM)
(a) Check if DTC B2621 is output See: Steering and Suspension/Steering/Steering Column/Testing and Inspection/Reading and Clearing
Diagnostic Trouble Codes/Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column System.
Result:
HINT
DTC B2621 indicates a combination meter communication stop malfunction in the CAN communication system.
B -- GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM See: Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Information
Bus/Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/CAN Communication System/How to Proceed With
Troubleshooting
A -- Continue to next step.
2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FREEZE SPEED INFO)
(a) Turn the engine switch off.
(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(c) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
