NG -- CHECK DRIVER SIDE SQUIB 2ND STEP CIRCUIT



OK -- REPLACE STEERING PAD See: Restraints and Safety Systems/Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service and Repair/Removal and



Replacement/Steering Pad/Removal



1. CHECK DRIVER SIDE SQUIB 2ND STEP CIRCUIT



(a) Turn the engine switch off.



(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.



NOTICE:



Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.



(c) Disconnect SST from connector E.



(d) Disconnect the instrument panel wire from the center airbag sensor assembly.



(e) Check for a short to B+ in the circuit.



(1) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.



(2) Turn the engine switch on (IG).



(3) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.



Standard Voltage:



(f) Check for an open in the circuit.

(a) Turn the engine switch off.

B1838/58 - Short to B+ in Curtain Shield Squib LH Circuit



DESCRIPTION



The curtain shield squib LH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and curtain shield airbag assembly LH.



The circuit instructs the SRS to deploy when deployment conditions are met.



These DTCs are recorded when a malfunction is detected in the curtain shield squib LH circuit.
